Overview
First Quantum Minerals is seeking an Artisan, Fitter to join the team at Kansanshi Processing Plant in Solwezi, Zambia. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, this role is responsible for maintaining the integrity and reliability of crushing and milling equipment to maximize plant availability and support copper and gold production targets. The position requires a safety conscious professional who can deliver high quality maintenance services efficiently while contributing to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Main Responsibilities
• Carry out mechanical maintenance tasks on crushing and milling equipment in line with OEM and company standards.
• Diagnose mechanical faults using specialized tools and implement effective solutions.
• Perform preventive maintenance, breakdown repairs, and proactive inspections on crushers, conveyors, mills, gearboxes, lubrication systems, pumps, and associated infrastructure.
• Ensure strict compliance with safety, environmental, and quality management systems, including PPE and housekeeping standards.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Process teams to achieve safety, production, and cost performance targets.
• Mentor and support new employees to uphold maintenance standards and safe work practices.

Required Qualifications and Skills
• Craft Certificate in Mechanical Fitting from a recognized institution (higher qualifications are an advantage).
• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) as a Craftsperson.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in fixed plant maintenance, preferably within crushing and milling operations.
• Proven expertise in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of crushers, conveyors, vibrating screens, mills, gearboxes, lubrication systems, pumps, valves, and pipelines.
• Experience with structured problem solving techniques such as root cause analysis.
• Knowledge of hydraulic and lubrication systems; forklift or overhead crane operation is an advantage.
• Valid Zambian Class C driver’s license (preferred).
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Physically fit, self motivated, and capable of interpreting mechanical drawings.
