Overview
Lumwana Mining Company is seeking a Supervisor – Mine Roads to join its Mining Team. Reporting to the Coordinator – Mine Roads, this role is responsible for overseeing the construction, maintenance, and safety of haul roads and associated infrastructure to support production targets. The position requires a hands on leader who can manage operational road works, enforce safety standards, and ensure efficient use of equipment and resources while contributing to a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Main Responsibilities
• Supervise and manage mine road construction and maintenance activities in line with operational plans.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures, workplace rules, and environmental standards.
• Implement wet weather planning and maintain haul roads, ramps, drainage systems, and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate with peer supervisors to uphold site safety standards including windrow heights, road surfaces, and dewatering.
• Manage scheduling of equipment and workforce to meet production and cost targets.
• Induct and mentor personnel, reinforcing safe work practices and proper use of protective equipment.
• Investigate and report incidents, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
• Maintain accurate site records and contribute to daily, weekly, and monthly mining plans.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Certificate in Civil Engineering, Mining Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in open pit mining operations.
• Experience operating or supervising large mining equipment such as dump trucks, dozers, and graders.
• Valid blasting license with practical blasting experience.
• Basic survey knowledge including TBMs, control pegs, and dual slope laser.
• Proven experience in haul road construction, ramps, layer works, surfacing, and drainage systems.
• Eligible for membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• Competence in incident and accident investigation.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem solving skills.
