Overview
Lumwana Mining Company is seeking a Civil Engineering Supervisor – LEP (Fixed Term) to join its Project Department. Reporting to the Projects Coordinator, this role is responsible for overseeing civil construction projects to ensure safe, efficient, and cost effective delivery. The successful candidate will play a key role in supervising site activities, maintaining quality standards, and driving project progress while upholding Barrick’s values of integrity, accountability, and sustainable impact.
Main Responsibilities
• Supervise and manage on site civil engineering works including earthworks, concrete, roads, drainage, paving, and structural elements.
• Ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare scopes of work, bills of quantities, and project documentation in line with engineering standards.
• Coordinate contractors, workforce, and equipment to optimize construction efficiency.
• Monitor project schedules, budgets, and performance against established baselines.
• Oversee procurement, delivery, and inventory management of construction materials.
• Conduct inspections and enforce quality control procedures to resolve defects promptly.
• Maintain accurate site reports, drawing registers, and quality documentation.
• Support verification of quantities for contractor payment applications.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Degree in Construction, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
• Membership with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
• Minimum of 3 years’ construction experience in mining projects, particularly housing construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulatory standards.
• Proven experience with construction management software.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MS Office Suite, MS Project, Primavera, or similar tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
