Overview
The Supervisor – Shovels will oversee the maintenance, repair, and performance optimisation of shovel fleets at Lumwana Mining Company. Reporting to the Coordinator – Shovels and Excavators, this role ensures equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and compliance with OEM standards. It requires a hands on leader with strong technical expertise and the ability to coordinate teams, align maintenance schedules with production demands, and drive continuous improvement in asset performance.

Main Responsibilities
• Supervise daily activities of technicians and OEM service teams engaged in shovel maintenance.
• Manage and prioritise work orders, ensuring accurate documentation and timely approvals.
• Schedule and coordinate shovel repairs, component replacements, and major change outs.
• Collaborate with maintenance planners and operations teams to align maintenance schedules with production requirements.
• Analyse equipment performance data to identify opportunities for improved uptime and reliability.
• Lead initiatives to maximise shovel and plant availability through process and systems improvements.
• Ensure shovel assets are maintained to OEM standards and operational requirements.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and support to technical teams to enhance performance and safety.

Required Qualifications and Skills
• Minimum of a Craft Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field.
• At least 6 years’ experience in heavy earthmoving equipment maintenance, with specific expertise in shovels.
• Membership with the Engineering Institute of Zambia.
• Proven supervisory experience in a mining environment.
• Valid Zambian driver’s licence.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate diverse technical teams.
• Familiarity with maintenance planning systems and reliability principles (e.g., SAP, Pronto) and proficiency in Excel.
