Overview
The Superintendent – HIA/VMI/Rotables will lead the management of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), rebuilds, and heavy mobile equipment (HME) warehousing at Lumwana Mining Company. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role ensures that demand planning, inventory control, and procurement processes run seamlessly to support both planned and unplanned maintenance activities. The position requires a results driven professional who can coordinate across supply chain, finance, and vendor teams to guarantee timely availability of parts, efficient transactions, and continuous improvement in supply chain performance.
Main Responsibilities
• Oversee VMI operations, including listings, pricing, and SAP record updates.
• Lead demand planning reviews for HME, ensuring weekly, monthly, and quarterly requirements are met.
• Conduct regular stock reviews with vendors, addressing slow moving items and identifying direct purchase needs.
• Maintain reconciliations of VMI issued materials and provide daily inventory updates.
• Ensure timely issuance of purchase orders for HME and resolve related queries.
• Facilitate business reviews and performance discussions with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Provide management with accurate reporting on account status, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Identify supply chain trends, root causes, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency.
• Support cross functional initiatives to reduce lead times, improve supplier reliability, and strengthen data accuracy.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Full Grade 12 certificate.
• Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supply or CIPS equivalent.
• Minimum of 5 years’ management experience in mining or other 24 hour operational industries.
• Membership with the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
• Strong knowledge of end to end supply chain processes including procurement, logistics, inventory management, and invoice reconciliation.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and data analysis, with ability to design dashboards and performance reports.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and other supply chain management tools.
• Strong analytical thinking skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and recommend actionable solutions.
