Overview
The Supervisor, Gravity Circuit will oversee the safe operation, maintenance, and performance of equipment within the Gold Area of a world class processing plant. This role is central to ensuring reliability, compliance, and efficiency across mechanical systems while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. The position requires a hands on leader who can combine technical expertise with strong people management skills to drive operational excellence in a demanding industrial environment.
Main Responsibilities
• Supervise daily maintenance and operational activities, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Develop and implement safe working procedures, standard work instructions, and best practice maintenance techniques.
• Conduct workplace inspections, monitor equipment performance, and take corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Oversee scheduling and tracking of maintenance plans using computerized systems.
• Provide technical support, monitor component wear, and recommend improvements to plant design and equipment efficiency.
• Manage team performance through coaching, reviews, and mentoring, while identifying training opportunities.
• Promote a positive work environment, enforce housekeeping standards, and encourage adherence to company policies.
• Prepare reports on maintenance activities and ensure accurate documentation for compliance and operational review.
• Collaborate with cross functional teams to drive continuous improvement and operational reliability.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related trade.
• Membership/registration with EIZ and ERB.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in maintenance operations within asset intensive industries, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of fixed plant equipment such as concentrators, screens, pumps, and cyclones.
• Proficiency in metrology, technical drawing interpretation, and use of manual, electrical, and hydraulic tools.
• Experience with PRONTO or similar computerized maintenance systems.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills, with proven ability to manage diverse teams.
• Computer literacy and ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
• Completion of leadership or supervisory training is an advantage.
• Willingness to work standby shifts, overtime, and in environments with exposure to noise and dust.
