Overview
Absa is seeking a Transaction Monitoring Officer to join their dynamic team. This hybrid role is crucial for ensuring operational excellence and supporting the bank's mission to protect its assets, customers, and people from financial crime. The ideal candidate will be a proactive team player who can deliver on key operational and customer service targets while maintaining strict compliance with all regulatory standards.
Main Responsibilities
As a Financial Crime Operations Officer, you will be responsible for:
• Operational Service Delivery: Adjudicating financial crime alerts, processing information, and ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and on time while meeting performance targets.
• Stakeholder Support: Guiding branches and Relationship Managers on transaction monitoring, raising compliance concerns, and resolving queries from all stakeholders in line with service level agreements (SLAs).
• Compliance and Risk Management: Ensuring all activities are in full compliance with the Absa Operational Risk Framework and regulatory requirements, and staying up-to-date with changes from the Financial Intelligence Centre and the Central Bank of Zambia.
• Team Collaboration and Development: Working closely with your team to share knowledge, improve processes, and provide constructive feedback. You will also participate in team-building and community events.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
• Education: A Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce, and Management Studies is required.
• Operational Acumen: Proven ability to manage daily operational tasks, meet deadlines, and achieve performance targets.
• Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively respond to queries from both internal and external stakeholders and provide clear guidance.
• Compliance Mindset: A deep understanding of and commitment to regulatory requirements, operational risk frameworks, and internal policies.
• Personal Attributes: A proactive, self-driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute to a team, and support change initiatives.
