Overview
African Parks is seeking a dedicated and proactive Procurement Officer to join the team at Liuwa Plain National Park in Kalabo. This role is essential for ensuring the effective and transparent procurement of all goods and services, upholding the organization's standards, and guaranteeing value for money. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in procurement and a commitment to supporting the critical operations of the park.


Main Responsibilities
As a Procurement Officer, you will be responsible for:
• Managing the full procurement cycle, from creating and transmitting purchase orders to collecting quotes and ensuring all deliveries match orders.
• Maintaining compliance by strictly adhering to all African Parks standards and procedures, and ensuring that all documentation, including delivery notes and invoices, is accurate and in line with orders.
• Cultivating strong supplier relationships by updating the supplier database, prospecting for new suppliers, and resolving any disputes to ensure timely deliveries.
• Supporting inventory and contract management in collaboration with other departments to minimize stock-outs and track all supplier and carrier contracts.
• Reporting and Analysis by aggregating procurement data, producing regular reports, and analyzing market prices to ensure cost-effectiveness.


Required Qualifications and Skills
To be a successful candidate for this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:
Education: A Grade 12 School Certificate and a bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supply or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of experience in local procurement of goods and services. Experience working on donor-funded projects is an added advantage.
Professional Affiliation: Must be an active member of the Zambia Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint) is required. Experience with dedicated procurement software is a plus.
Personal Attributes: Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills. Must be a team player with a high level of integrity and the ability to work in a dynamic environment.
