Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Southern Regional Head of Trade to lead and grow the bank's trade business across the region. This leadership role is crucial for developing and executing the trade sales strategy, enhancing market competitiveness, and driving business growth. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with deep expertise in trade finance and a proven track record of success in the Southern African market.
Main Responsibilities
As the Southern Regional Head of Trade, you will be responsible for:
• Driving Strategy and Growth: Leading the delivery of the bank's trade sales strategy to increase market share and meet revenue targets across the region.
• Product and Deal Origination: Developing product programs for key commodities and collaborating with country teams to structure and deliver complex trade finance transactions.
• Relationship Management: Cultivating strong relationships with correspondent banks and development financial institutions (DFIs) to secure favorable trade lines and loans.
• Team Development: Conducting joint calls and providing training to relationship and country trade teams to enhance their product knowledge and sales capabilities.
• Market Expertise: Leveraging your strong knowledge of Southern African markets, including their regulatory, trade, and FX environments, to inform strategy and drive performance.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
• Education: A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is required. A Master's degree (MBA or equivalent) is an advantage.
• Experience: A minimum of 15 years of banking experience, with at least 5 years in a senior management role within trade finance or transaction banking.
• Technical Expertise: Extensive experience in a broad range of trade finance products, including supply chain finance, structured trade, and letters of credit.
• Market Knowledge: Strong, demonstrable exposure to the Southern Africa markets.
• Certifications: Recognized professional certifications in a relevant field, such as CITF or ICC trade certification, are a plus.
