Overview
MSI Reproductive Choices is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Country Director for its operations in Zambia. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving the overall strategy and management of our national sexual and reproductive health programs. The successful candidate will lead a professional team to deliver high-quality, life-saving services, ensuring programmatic excellence and sustainable impact while also serving as MSI's senior representative in the country.
Main Responsibilities
As a Country Director, you will be responsible for:
• Strategic Leadership: Leading the development and execution of annual and long-term strategic plans to ensure the effective delivery of reproductive health services.
• Operational and Financial Management: Overseeing all programmatic, financial, and administrative aspects of the country program, including managing budgets and ensuring adherence to MSI's minimum standards.
• Business Development: Identifying new business opportunities, securing donor funding, and building strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including governments and donors, to support program growth.
• Team Leadership: Leading, mentoring, and managing a skilled country team, fostering a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous innovation.
• Brand and Stakeholder Relations: Acting as the senior brand representative, building lasting relationships, and promoting the brand to position MSI as the provider of choice for reproductive health services.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
• Education: A degree-level education is required, with a relevant post-graduate qualification (e.g., MBA, MSc, MA) being highly desirable. Project management certification, such as Prince 2, is a plus.
• Experience: Proven international work experience in a senior management role, preferably in a developing country, with a track record of successfully growing a business. You should have extensive experience in change management, income generation, and financial management, including managing a P&L.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and manage dispersed teams, a strong capacity for data-driven decision-making, and experience building lasting relationships with external stakeholders to achieve tangible results.
• Personal Attributes: An entrepreneurial and solutions-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills. Must be unequivocally pro-choice and committed to MSI's mission, vision, and values.
• Legal Requirements: Must have the right to work in Zambia.
