Overview
Zanaco Bank is seeking a dedicated Senior Relationship Manager - Mines and Metals to drive the successful delivery of the Bank's strategy within the mining industry. This pivotal role involves actively managing and growing the mining and metals portfolio, cultivating new client relationships, and ensuring the Bank is positioned as a preferred partner in the sector. The ideal candidate will leverage strong industry relationships and provide leadership to achieve financial targets and foster a sustainable mining ecosystem.
Main Responsibilities
As a Relationship Manager - Mining, you will be responsible for:
• Portfolio Management & Growth: Developing and managing a robust mines and metals portfolio, collaborating with the Head of Mines & Metals to achieve ambitious financial targets and drive revenue growth in compliance with regulatory standards.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivating strong relationships with key external partners, regulators, and industry stakeholders to enhance the Bank's profile and foster healthy corporate connections within the mining sector.
• Strategic Development: Staying abreast of market developments, recommending initiatives for adoption, and developing client-specific marketing programs to deepen relationships and drive business solutions.
• Risk and Compliance: Ensuring strict adherence to corporate governance standards, managing ESG risks, and operating within the Bank's risk appetite framework for the mining sector.
• Analytical Support & Leadership: Providing analytical support for mining projects, including screening and appraisal of business proposals, and co-managing analyst resources within the portfolio.
Required Qualifications and Skills
To be a successful candidate for this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
• Education: A University Degree in Business or a relevant discipline. Certification or experience in the mining sector and commercial credit analysis are considered significant advantages.
• Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience, preferably in a banking environment at a senior relationship management level. Must have exposure to development finance, credit appraisal, environmental sustainability frameworks, and Zambia's mining regulatory framework.
• Analytical Acumen: High levels of competency in quantitative and qualitative research methods, with the ability to quickly grasp complex concepts.
• Interpersonal & Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to communicate effectively with clients and internal stakeholders, including executive management. Must be a team player with excellent time management skills.
• Personal Attributes: Ambitious, energetic, and capable of driving results. Demonstrates a high level of maturity, integrity, responsibility, and discretion when handling confidential information.
