Overview
We are looking for a Laboratory Technician to perform a variety of laboratory tasks and support our research activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting tests, managing equipment, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a solid background in laboratory techniques.


Main Responsibilities
As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for:
Performing laboratory tests and analyses, including specialized techniques like gram staining and histology, while meticulously recording all observations and findings.
Ensuring quality and compliance by conducting quality control checks and strictly adhering to established standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Managing and maintaining equipment, which includes calibrating instruments and troubleshooting technical issues to ensure everything is functioning correctly and reliably.
Documenting and reporting on test results and lab activities, maintaining detailed and accurate records, and participating in meetings and training sessions to stay current.
Supporting field research by assisting with sample collection and data analysis for various scientific studies.


Required Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:
Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology, Biomedical Science, or Aquaculture and Fisheries. Additional certifications in Laboratory Practice/Technology or Food Safety are a plus.
Expertise: Strong knowledge of fish nutrition, health, pathology, and disease management is essential.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in various laboratory techniques and a keen eye for detail.
Analytical Skills: Strong reporting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities to accurately interpret data and resolve technical issues.
Personal Attributes: High degree of professionalism, integrity, and a proactive approach to maintaining a safe and effective work environment.
