Overview
Kabundi Resources Limited (KRL) is seeking an experienced Mine Manager to lead and oversee all mining activities for its manganese project in Central Province. This pivotal role involves providing strategic technical guidance to the General Manager, driving the development and implementation of mining operational frameworks, and evaluating new investment opportunities. The successful candidate will also be responsible for fostering key partnerships and ensuring technical excellence and compliance across all operations.
Main Responsibilities
• Strategic Planning & Budgeting: Develop and manage annual operational plans and budgets for mining activities and technical service provisions, ensuring cost efficiency and adherence to financial targets.
• Operational Leadership: Direct the establishment and execution of mining operational frameworks, including monitoring progress and reporting. Foster value-adding partnerships with small-scale miners, integrating machinery, financial, and operational support, and leading the selection of suitable partners.
• Technical Advisory & Studies: Conduct comprehensive technical studies on engineering and business options, providing data-driven recommendations to senior management and offering expert technical advice to the Board of Directors.
• Compliance & Safety: Uphold and enforce all mining regulations, statutory requirements, and company policies, ensuring full compliance and cultivating a positive, safety-first work environment.
• Partner & Stakeholder Management: Evaluate potential investment opportunities and partnerships, manage operational relationships with strategic partners, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient operations.
• Reporting & Governance: Oversee financial performance reporting for the mine, participate in rigorous reviews of exploration reports from strategic partners, and prepare timely reports for internal use and Director submissions. Promote and influence good corporate governance practices within all associated entities.
• Team Management: Oversee a diverse team of mining professionals, including engineers, safety officers, geologists, and foremen, providing leadership and mentorship.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Education & Professional Registration:
o A First Degree in Mining Engineering from a recognized university.
o Registered with the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ) and the Engineering Registration Board (ERB).
• Experience:
o A minimum of 5 years of experience in mining operations and technical roles, with at least 4 years at a middle management level.
o Demonstrated expertise in project assessment and financial evaluation.
o A comprehensive background in both underground and open-pit mining operations.
o Strong ability to understand and interpret geological information.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office and mine planning software such as Datamine, XPAC, and Surpac.
