Overview
The role is responsible for managing the Bank’s credit portfolio, ensuring robust monitoring, compliance with approved terms, and accurate maintenance of credit documentation. It further oversees the Bank’s insurance framework—safeguarding both Bank assets and customer collateral—through effective coverage, claims management, and compliance with governance, risk, and regulatory requirements. The position plays a critical part in minimizing risk exposure while maintaining operational efficiency, supporting business units, and enhancing portfolio performance reporting.


Main Responsibilities
• Conduct regular reviews of the credit portfolio to ensure accuracy of applied terms, interest rates, and collateral records.
• Prepare and manage offer letters, post-sanction documents, and instructions to legal for security creation, ensuring timeliness and compliance with SLAs.
• Monitor credit facilities for compliance with regulatory capital and Single Obligor Limits (SOL).
• Manage all aspects of the Bank’s insurance portfolio, including policy renewals, claims management, refunds, fraud-related claims, and compliance with legal requirements.
• Ensure adequate insurance coverage for Bank assets, customer-secured assets, and business interests, liaising with brokers, insurers, and legal teams.
• Track and reconcile insurance premiums, monitor service provider performance, and conduct market intelligence to recommend improvements.
• Oversee pension claim processing, staff payouts, and documentation management in liaison with Pension Fund Administrators.
• Support audits, compliance checks, and policy reviews to strengthen governance, risk, and control frameworks.
• Produce accurate, timely portfolio and insurance performance reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual).
• Address queries from branches and departments while ensuring issues are resolved and escalated as needed.


Required Qualifications and Skills
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies, Economics, Risk Management, Actuarial Science, or equivalent. Professional qualifications such as FCII/ACII preferred.
Professional Memberships: Chartered Institute of Insurance (UK) and/or Insurance Institute of Zambia.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a financial institution, insurance broking firm, or other high-demand environment. Exposure to both general and life insurance as well as pensions management is an advantage.
Core Competencies: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, agility, and creativity. Proven negotiation, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities with a results-driven and proactive approach.
