Overview
Absa Group is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Data Scientist to support business performance tracking and decision-making across designated functions. This role plays a key part in designing and delivering data-driven insights, automating reporting processes, and enhancing operational efficiency. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Data Lead and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure data integrity, promote innovation, and contribute to strategic planning.

Main Responsibilities
• Analyze operational data and develop systems for performance measurement and reporting.
• Design and automate management information (MI), business intelligence (BI), and predictive analytics reports.
• Support business units by identifying performance gaps, cost-saving opportunities, and process improvements.
• Maintain and validate data accuracy across reporting streams and performance models.
• Produce balanced scorecards, productivity trackers, and progress analyses aligned with business objectives.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement through regular meetings and strategic alignment sessions.
• Mentor data champions and contribute to HR best practices within the analytics function.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards, and data governance protocols.

Required Qualifications and Skills
• Higher Diploma in Physical, Mathematical, Computer, or Life Sciences (required).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for data accuracy.
• Proficiency in data mining, cleaning, summarizing, and reporting.
• Experience with performance tracking, scorecards, and business intelligence tools.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• Commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and process optimization.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks and internal data policies.
• Ability to manage data access credentials responsibly and securely.
