Overview
The organization is seeking a Research X-Ray Technician to support research-related radiology services. Reporting to the Radiology Coordinator/Medical Officer, the Radiographer will perform chest X-ray procedures, ensure compliance with radiation safety standards, and contribute to high-quality clinical research operations. The role requires technical expertise in digital radiography, adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate, timely, and confidential handling of imaging data.
Main Responsibilities
• Perform chest X-rays using mobile, stationary, or digital X-ray machines, including CAD4TB and qXr CAD scoring systems.
• Provide clear explanations of procedures to participants while ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Maintain strict radiation protection standards and safeguard all radiological equipment in use.
• Conduct basic interpretation of X-ray images and direct participants to the appropriate next steps based on results.
• Ensure accurate completion, documentation, and timely reporting of X-ray forms and findings.
• Collaborate with data and technical teams to upload and transmit images securely to cloud-based platforms.
• Monitor equipment functionality, report malfunctions promptly, and uphold study confidentiality protocols.
• Deliver constructive feedback to colleagues regarding documentation quality and compliance.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Grade 12 certificate and Diploma in Radiography (mandatory).
• Certification in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and NHRA registration (added advantage).
• Proficiency in operating portable digital X-ray units and related imaging software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to reassure and guide participants.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with strong attention to detail in documentation.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow established protocols, and work effectively within a team.
• Strong IT literacy and familiarity with electronic systems for image handling and reporting.
• Professional, ethical, and adaptable approach to clinical research environments.
