Overview
First Quantum is seeking a skilled Mine Surveyor to provide accurate and timely surveying services to support safe and efficient mining operations at Kalumbila. The role is critical in ensuring precise measurements, control establishment, mine design set-outs, and data accuracy for geological, technical, and operational teams. The Mine Surveyor will also play a key role in stockpile monitoring, drill and blast support, and integration of drone survey data, contributing to the achievement of operational targets.

Main Responsibilities
• Conduct accurate and safe surveying fieldwork and office duties, including monthly production measurements.
• Establish and monitor primary and secondary survey controls, including levelling.
• Maintain and manage survey equipment, vehicles, and storeroom.
• Provide daily ore-face updates and distribute information to the Technical team.
• Prepare set-out plans for mine design and geological requirements.
• Perform regular stockpile surveys to evaluate volumes.
• Support drill and blast activities with precise survey data.
• Set up semi and permanent Ground Control Points (GCPs) for drone data geo-referencing.
• Collaborate with Chief Mine Surveyor, Survey Coordinators, and other mining sections to ensure accurate implementation of mine plans.

Required Qualifications and Skills
• Degree or Diploma in Mine, Geodetic, Geomatic, Land, or Engineering Surveying from a recognized institution.
• Knowledge and hands-on experience with GPS equipment, drones, total stations, scanners, data recorders, and surveying software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, GIS).
• Ability to interpret and implement mine plans effectively.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary mining teams.
• Valid Zambian driver’s license.
• Post-qualification experience in large open-pit mining operations is an advantage.
• All qualifications must be certified by the Zambia Qualifications Authority (ZAQA).
