Overview
As a Senior Exploration Geologist at KoBold Metals, you will lead the evaluation and development of potential mineral properties. You'll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, working closely with data scientists to apply KoBold's advanced AI and sensor technology to exploration programs. Your primary goal is to guide decision-making, make a strong investment case for new acquisitions and projects, and ultimately drive valuable mineral discoveries.
Main Responsibilities
• Lead rigorous analysis of geoscientific datasets to identify, rank, and prioritize exploration targets.
• Design, budget, and execute field programs, from initial prospecting to large-scale drilling campaigns, ensuring high standards for data acquisition and validation.
• Provide technical guidance and support to in-country project teams and stakeholders, including regulatory authorities and community representatives.
• Collaborate with data scientists to develop and implement innovative analytical methods.
• Maintain the highest standards in health, safety, and community relations.
Required Qualifications and Skills
• Experience: A minimum of 10 years in the mineral exploration industry, with expertise in at least one ore deposit type (experience with sediment-hosted stratiform copper or magmatic sulfide deposits is a plus).
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in generative analysis, data interpretation, and modeling of large datasets. Baseline knowledge of standard software like ArcGIS or QGIS is required.
• Leadership and Teamwork: Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and coach team members from diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated success in collaborative, interdisciplinary teams.
• Field Operations: Excellent field skills and experience conducting exploration programs at various stages, from grassroots to advanced projects with significant drilling.
• Language and Residency: Must be a resident of and legally authorized to work in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and be fluent in French.
