The Required Skills for this Role Include:
• Dairy collection and processing of herd data into the Herd management Systems (Dimssa and Delpro);
• To enter Heats and Artificial insemination (AI) to update calving’s, Dry Offs, Pregnant determination PD’s and group transfers/change
• Recording different ailments and treatments as recommended by the veterinarian and removal of animals from the system – (Animals sold or died)
• Update post – partum information, sorting cows for different herd activities
• Recording of vaccination into Dimssa herd management system and select animals ready for PD’s ONO, PPE and SYNC
• Filling of all herd reports and other vet activities report
• Dairy completion of the potential problem animals list
• Dry Offs overdue – Animals still lactating and have passed the projected dry date /calving Overdue – Pregnant animals should have calved already
• Low yield – Animals still lactating but latest yields are below the minimum / Breeding Overdue animals is not mated and beyond the specified days since or birth
• Steam – up overdue – Animal is due for steam up and she is not in steam up production group. On a monthly basis supply the steaming and youngstock supervisors with the growth weight list for weighing the youngstock and make sure data is entered into the system
• Ensuring animals in the system tally with the physical on the ground and submit figures to the accounts officer.
• Providing herd information and reports to the end users
The Required Qualifications are:
• Grade 12 Certificate including English and Mathematics
• Certificate in Animal health / Animal science / Computer Related Studies
• Computer Literacy, Excel and Word
• Minimum two (2) years of experience in related field.
