Overview
WWF Zambia invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified and experienced service providers for the Provision of Specialised Services – Desilting and Stabilization of Natural Water Ponds. This initiative supports the Climate Adaptation and Protected Areas (CAPA) program, aiming to enhance water harvesting capacity, improve habitats for people, livestock, and wildlife, and strengthen climate resilience in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, Sioma Ngwezi National Park, and the Lower West Zambezi Game Management Area. The successful service provider will deliver sustainable pond restoration solutions in collaboration with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) and WWF Zambia.


Main Responsibilities
• Execute desilting and stabilization of six natural ponds across designated project sites.
• Reshape and retrench natural drains, stabilize pond banks, and plant indigenous grass species to minimize erosion and restore ecological balance.
• Carry out auxiliary works such as reconstruction of blocked sections as directed by DNPW engineers.
• Ensure worker safety, environmental protection, and minimal disturbance to natural habitats during project execution.
• Apply best practices in water resource management, habitat conservation, and climate-resilient engineering.
• Work under the direct supervision of DNPW’s Resident Engineer and Ecologist, with technical oversight from WWF Zambia.
• Deliver the project within a defined six-week timeframe, including mobilization and demobilization.


Required Qualifications & Skills
• Registered business entity with valid PACRA registration.
• Compliance with EIZ, NCC, Water Resources Management Authority, Tax, and NAPSA regulations.
• Minimum of six (6) years’ proven experience in desilting, pond stabilization, or similar environmental engineering projects.
• Strong technical expertise in hydrology, geology, reservoir construction, and conservation engineering.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage projects in wildlife habitats with minimal ecological disruption.
• Proven ability to execute large-scale environmental projects within strict deadlines.
• Company profile with director details, plus CVs of a qualified Lead Engineer and Environmental, Health & Safety Officer.
• Three verifiable references from clients on similar assignments.
• Commitment to WWF’s Environmental and Social Safeguards Framework (ESSF).
• Prior experience working with the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) is an advantage.
