Overview
The Communications Lead for the MalVac project in Zambia will provide technical leadership in implementing strategic malaria vaccine communication activities. This role is crucial for boosting vaccine adoption, coverage, and uptake, while improving health-seeking behaviors at both facility and community levels. The ideal candidate will work closely with government health ministries, implementing partners, and community-based organizations to enhance vaccine acceptance across Zambia.

Main Responsibilities
• Serve as the lead technical resource for community mobilization, conceptualizing communication strategies, and developing tailored training materials for community health workers.
• Support the update or development of the national malaria vaccine communication strategy and assist with mass media activities.
• Design a simple Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) system for community mobilization activities, including a self-assessment component.
• Review real-time monitoring data and provide timely feedback and in-person support to provincial, district teams, and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
• Actively research best practices in malaria vaccine communication and advocacy, sharing learnings with colleagues.
• Develop communication budgets, approve expenses, and contribute to activity reports and annual work plans.


Required Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience: A Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Development Studies or Public Health. A minimum of five years of experience in Social Behavior Change (SBC) or communication work, particularly for immunization programs and new vaccine introduction.
Technical Skills: Demonstrated track record in planning and coordinating programs in consultation with government and other partners. Experience in training and institutional capacity-building. Knowledge of the malaria program in Zambia, including health system operations, is essential. Familiarity with USG requirements is preferred.
Soft Skills: Strong writing, reporting, and presentation skills.
Workplace Requirements: Must have legal authorization to work in Zambia.
