Job description:
The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing various projects related to plant modifications, upgrades, and new installations at a Kansanshi Mine PLC. This role will ensure that all projects are executed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The Project Coordinator will work closely with project teams, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution from planning to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in the planning and scheduling of plant modification and new installation projects.
• Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and internal teams to define project scope, deliverables, and timelines.
• Size the required equipment (pumps, pipes, motors etc.)
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring milestones are met and risks are identified early.
• Organize and participate in project meetings, documenting minutes, action items, and follow-ups.
• Coordinate the allocation of resources, including labor, equipment, and materials, ensuring that the right resources are available at the right time.
• Serve as the main point of contact for all project-related communication, both internal and external.
• Provide regular updates to the project superintendent, stakeholders, and site leadership regarding project progress, issues, and potential delays.
• Maintain relationships with contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project execution.
• Ensure that all projects comply with company safety standards, environmental regulations, and local laws.
• Collaborate with the safety team to conduct risk assessments and implement safety protocols for plant modifications and installations.
• Coordinate safety audits and inspections during project execution to identify potential hazards and mitigate risks.
• Assist in developing and monitoring project budgets.
• Track project expenses and report any cost overruns or financial concerns to the project superintendent.
• Ensure that project costs are controlled, and expenditures align with the approved budget.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date project documentation, including contracts, change orders, drawings, and permits.
• Ensure all modifications and installations are properly documented, including as-built drawings and technical specifications.
• Prepare project status reports, including progress updates, budget tracking, and issue resolution.

• Address any issues that arise during the project lifecycle, working with the team to resolve challenges efficiently.
• Assist with urgent maintenance breakdowns and spotted potential structural integrity risks.
• Coordinate project close-out activities, including final inspections and commissioning of new installations or plant modifications.
• Conduct post-project evaluations, gather feedback, and document lessons learned for continuous improvement in future projects.
Qualifications & Experience:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a plus.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project coordination or management in a mining, industrial, or construction environment, particularly involving plant modifications or installations.
• Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and environmental standards in mining and industrial settings.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability to changing project needs.
