Assistant Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Assistant to perform daily accounting tasks that will support our financial team.
Accounting Assistant responsibilities include managing expense reports and reimbursements, entering financial transactions into our internal databases and maintaining highest degree in bookkeeping procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintain company accounts, ledgers and daily financial functions.
• Create and update daily expense reports for management.
• Prepare bank deposits and reconcile bank statements.
• Enter financial transactions into pastel accounting software on daily basis.
• Process payments and invoices accurately and timely as per company procedures.
• Manage payroll activities.
• Monthly stock counts.
• Create financial documents such as invoices, sales orders, payables, receivables and purchase orders.
• Maintain and manage all statutory payments (Eg. NAPSA, PAYE…)
• Maintain digital and physical financial records
• Issue invoices to customers.
• Carry out reconciliations of accounts, general ledgers and Journals.
• Provide financial information for business analysis and auditing when needed.
• Review and file payroll documents
• Participate in quarterly and annual audits

EDUCATION QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

• Work experience as an Accounting Assistant or Accounting Clerk
• Knowledge of good bookkeeping procedures
• Familiarity with finance regulations
• Good math skills and the ability to spot numerical errors.
• Must have good experience of PASTEL software
• Hands-on experience with MS Excel, word and powerpoint.
• Organization skills
• Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
• Holder of a Bachelor’s degree in accountancy, full CA Zambia, ZICA Professional, ACCA or CIMA.
• Must be a paid up member of ZICA
• At least five years’ experience in a similar capacity
