Suitably qualified and motivated individuals are invited to apply for this Internship Opportunity! The Intern Geologist will support exploration activities by conducting geochemical analysis using portable hand-held X-ray Fluorescence (pXRF)analyser. The role involves fieldwork, sample collection and preparation, field data collection and assisting senior geologists in executing field activities.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain pXRF equipment for rapid geochemical analysis of rock, soil, and drill core samples.
- Assist in geological mapping, sampling, and core logging to support exploration programs.
- Ensure accurate data recording and assist in preliminary interpretation of pXRF results.
- Support field exploration activities, including site surveys and sample collection.
- Follow safety and environmental protocols during fieldwork and laboratory operations.
- Assist in data validation, reporting, and quality control of analytical results.
Job Requirements
Qualifications
• General Certificate of Education (GCE) or Equivalent with Credits or Better in Five Subjects, Mathematics and English Included
• Bachelor’s degree in Exploration and mining Geology (or related field) OR a final-year student in Geology.
• Basic knowledge of XRF operation (training may be provided).
• Understanding of geological fieldwork techniques (mapping, sampling, core logging).
• Ability to work in remote and rugged terrain under field conditions.
• Strong analytical and data management skills.
Preferred Skills:
• Familiarity with the Geology of Zambia’s and copper mineralization systems.
• Prior internship or fieldwork experience in mineral exploration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
• Basic experience with geological software (ArcGIS/Leapfrog/Surpac/Surfer/Geosoft Montaj)
The opportunity offers hands-on experience in exploration geology with exposure to CACB geology including geochemical analysis and data interpretation techniques.
