Job description:

Purpose

To coordinate mine closure-related activities, including the preparation of Bill of Quantities, Asset Retirement Obligations (AROs), and Mine Closure and Rehabilitation Plans, and the management of environmental infrastructural projects.

Key Responsibilities

This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment, and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function.

Develop and implement Mine Closure and Rehabilitation Plans in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies. Coordinating with other departments to ensure that all changes to infrastructure and landforms are accurately tracked and timely updated. Preparation of Bill of Quantities (BoQs) of all existing and new infrastructure in line with mine closure requirements. Coordinate costing updates for Asset Retirement Obligation (ARO) and Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) Reports. Coordinate with external stakeholders, including government agencies, environmental consultants, and local communities, to ensure alignment on closure and rehabilitation strategies. Provide technical expertise and guidance on best practices for mine closure and rehabilitation activities. Conduct training and awareness programmes for employees on mine closure and rehabilitation practices. Contract administration of projects ensuring they are implemented in a cost effective manner Risk management of projects and post construction activities. Assist in the implementation of EMS (Environmental Management System). Any other duties as directed by Superiors empowered to exercise authority over him/her.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree Quantity Surveying or Construction Engineering
Professional Qualification: Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or any related field.

Experience

• Minimum 10 years of experience in quantity surveying preferably in a mine closure context
• In-depth understanding of construction materials, pricing, and industry
• Experience in preparation of AROs and Mine Closure Plans highly preferred
• Experience in managing contractors and construction projects essential

Computational: MicroSoft Suite, GIS, AutoCAD and other modelling software
Oral: Verbal contacts with relevant personnel essential
Written: Technical report writing skills essential
Physique: Walking and standing ability required
Working Conditions: All weather conditions
Age: Below 40 years
