Lumwana Mining Company is seeking to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Senior Environmental Officer – Biodiversity to join the versatile Environmental Department. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Coordinator Environment, you will oversee biodiversity and conservation efforts, ensuring effective planning, coordination, supervision, research, and stakeholder engagement to achieve program goals, objectives, and targets efficiently.
Duties and responsibility for this position will include but not limited to the following:
• Implement & maintain an effective biodiversity strategy.
• Manage biodiversity risks and identify opportunities through analysis and intervention aimed at emerging biodiversity risks.
• Monitor and report biodiversity performance, ensuring data accuracy.
• Define and track KPIs aligned with corporate biodiversity targets and provide assurance against biodiversity standards.
• Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and partners to ensure the achievement of business objectives.
• Develop and implement biodiversity/climate change programs within and beyond operations as may be required.
• Prepare reports on projects, policies, and management plans.
To be considered for the position, one must meet the following requirements:
• Grade 12 School Certificate.
• Degree in Environmental related sciences such as Natural Resource Management, Forestry, Wildlife, Zoology, Botany or equivalent from a recognized University.
• Working knowledge of ISO14001 Environmental Management System and ISO45001 Health & Safety Management System
• Application knowledge of environmental regulations and standards related to biodiversity and climate change.
• A minimum of 5 years’ work experience in natural resource management.
• Experience in climate mitigation and adaptation programs, mining industry, enforcement, ecosystem management/assessment is an added advantage.
• Possessing a valid Zambian or SADC driver’s license.
