The Tobacco Board of Zambia (IBZ) was established in 1968 by an Act of Parliament, with the primary mandate being to regulate, promote, protect and facilitate tobacco production and marketing; and to provide guidance to all tobacco stakeholders in the industry through enforcement of the Tobacco Act Number 10 of 2022.In order to achieve its mandate, TBZ seeks the services of committed, vibrant, innovative, and strategically focused and business oriented Zambian national to fill the following vacant positions.
1.0 MANAGER CORPORATE AFFAIRS AND COMMUNICATIONS TBZ 3-1 POSITION
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Director, the job holder shall implement the communisations strategy, designs, manage and facilitates the implementation of the TBZ Communications, publication and stakeholders’ engagement strategies. The purpose of this position is to maintain a positive public image for Tobacco Board of Zambia, build relationships with key stakeholders, and effectively communicate the organization’s goals, initiatives, and achievements.
Main Duties and Accountabilities
• Liaises with the media regularly and systematically to ensure a close working relationship and better understanding of Tobacco Board of Zambia’s roles by the media;
• Develop, review and manage the execution of corporate Affairs and Communication unit’s operational framework (ie, policies and procedures);
• Act as corporate spokesperson, in line with the relevant delegations;
• Manage and coordinate the implementation of corporate social responsibility programs;
• Gathers news and other materials from all departments and regulated undertakings for inclusion in the TBZ magazine/newsletter upon approval by superior,Co-ordinates and arranges public awareness programmes such as briefings, press conferences and outreach programmes;
• Disseminates TBZ decisions and other relevant information on the operation of the Board to stakeholders using various communication channels e.g. electronic and print media;
• Drafts responses to media queries promptly in line with the media policy;
• Engages stakeholders by organizing public awareness events;
• Monitors and analyses media coverage on the TBZ and Tobacco Industry in general on a daily basis and drafts appropriate responses where necessary;
• Manages information content for the TBZ website;
• Ensuring timely preparation and distribution of the Annual Reports / Newsletters to various stakeholders;
• Arranging interviews with the media, individuals and other organizations, including attending to courtesy calls made to the Board;
• Coordinating workshops, meetings, ceremonies and any other events for publicity and information purposes;
• Distributing corporate wear, calendars and diaries;
• Preparing and updating the corporate database in respect of all TBZ stakeholders;
• Provides protocol services to TBZ VIPs as and when required;
• Undertakes any other duties as assigned by superior and Performs other duties as required or assigned by the Supervisor which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
2.0 Qualifications
• Grade 12 certificate with five (05) O’ Levels credits including English and Mathematics
• Bachelors Degree in Mass Communications/Public Relations with a Masters in related field as an added advantage.
• 5 years post qualification experience of which (02) years in a managerial capacity Excellent writing and communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated, able to work under pressure with minimum supervision to meet demanding media deadlines;
• Vast exposure in using social media platforms and proficiency in computer skills;
• Member of the Zambia Institute of Public Relations & Communications (ZIPRC).
