Job description:
PURPOSE
Responsible for imparting new skills set in drillers on site in order to enhance net proficiency output.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop comprehensive on the job training programs tailored to the needs of drill rig operators
• Provide hands-on training to drillers, ensure they understand and can effectively operate drill rigs safely and efficiently
• Offer real time coaching and feedback to drillers during their shifts to address any issues or challenges encountered and continuously improve their performance
• Ensure that all training and drilling activities comply with safety regulations and protocols to maintain a safe working environment
• Regularly monitor the performance of drillers, identify areas for improvement and implement strategies to enhance their skills and productivity
• Assist drillers in trouble shooting equipment issues or operational problems encountered during operations
• Maintain accurate records of training activities, drillers progress and any incidents or observations. Provide regular reports to drilling management on training effectiveness and areas for improvement
• Continuously evaluate and refine training programs and coaching methods to adapt to changing needs and improve overall performance
• Collaborate with training department to define training needs based on assessments completed.
• Perform other reasonable duties as directed by the Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Full Grade twelve (G12) school certificate.
• Minimum of diploma in Mining Engineering or related field
• A Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field of study will be an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and procedures
• Teaching methodology certification or similar certification
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Valid EIZ Practising Certificate
EXPERIENCE
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in mining operations within open-pit mining operations, with a focus on drilling.
• Experience in drilling techniques, equipment, and technologies
• Experience with ultra-class mining equipment preferred
• Prior experience in the similar role
• Experience working with High precision drilling system preferably Wenco
