Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
The Safety Officer will facilitate compliance with occupational safety, health, environmental and quality (SHEQ) guidelines and provide advice on measures to minimize hazards or unhealthy situations. The Safety officer will be focused on prevention by establishing a safe workplace according to legal standards and foster a culture of attention to safety, health, environmental and quality.
Job Requirements
KEY RESULT AREAS AND PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Develop and coordinate safety and health systems and strategies.
• Designing and maintaining all safety and health regulations within the mine site.
• Ensure company is aware of and complies with all legislation in relations to mining operations.
• Conduct risk assessment and enforce preventative measures.
• Lead in the supervision and investigation of any accidents and unsafe working conditions.
• Implement and coordinate all emergency procedures.
• Development and implementing of training sessions for safety practices and legislation, implementing of policies, procedures and manuals
• Prepare reports on safety and provide statistical information to relevant stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL/DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
a) Professional Qualifications :
• Grade 12 Certificate
• Experience in mining operations
• Computer literate
• Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety.
• Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety obtained from a recognized institution will be highly advantageous.
- Minimum Relevant Pre-Job Experience:
• Must have at least 2 years of experience
• Ability to communicate effectively.
