Position Overview
Pact, a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, is implementing the USAID Zambia Integrated Health Activity. The Activity supports USAID and PEPFAR objectives of 95/95/95 and provides service delivery and technical assistance to improve Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) services. USAID Zambia Integrated Health improves, sustains, and further integrates lifesaving HIV/AIDS and MNCH services at the health facility and community levels and ensure that client-centered, high-impact, high-quality services are available to all Zambians. The PCR Support Scientist, contributes to realizing this purpose by:
Key Responsibilities
1.Perform molecular testing techniques in support of the ART Program (VL, EID, HPV & DRT).
- Report all results using nationally approved laboratory information systems (DISA/e_Labs) and any other approved system.
- Ensure consistent availability of reagents and consumables to prevent the disruption of testing services. Use of e_LMIS will be critical.
- Develop and nurture relationships with other PCR Laboratories in the region to establish referral services.
- Participate in the testing of external quality control materials and submission of results to the external assessing agency.
- Work with the MOH teams to Implement quality management systems (QMS)
- Provide technical support and mentorship to facilities served especially in but not restricted to specimen collection, packaging, storage, transportation and results management.
- Keep an updated equipment database/spreadsheet useful for tracking functionality, downtime and repairs.
- Maintain regular communications with vendors, provincial biomedical scientists and provincial medical equipment officers.
- Regularly prepare written reports summarising monthly and quarterly activities.
Basic Requirements
• Degree or Diploma in Biomedical Science
• 3 years working experience in molecular testing laboratory
• Fully registered with Health Professions Council Of Zambia
